NG Media will be spending a week at Kiwirrkurra School to work with the students and teachers.  Over the week the high school students will make a film and have a go at learning how to make and broadcast radio.

Each year IRCA hosts the Remote Indigenous Media Organisations (RIMO) Festival in a different location to bring together remote media workers from all over the country providing an opportunity for management and staff to network (something we don’t regularly get to do, given our remote locations!) and to showcase what the various RIMO's have to offer. This year CAAMA (Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association joined IRCA to host the festival in Hermannsburg Community.

The annual schools festival Desert Dust Up was a huge success this year. Held in Warburton on the 11-13th September, children were bused in from all the way from Kiwirrkurra for 2 days chock-a-block full of fun activities such as hip hop, art and culture workshops, relays, sack racing and water balloon throwing!

​​​An exciting new project is underway in the radio department at NG Media in collaboration with schools from right across the Ngaanyatjarra region. Our radio coordinator Alana and radio assistant Sarah have been working with teachers to start training kids as part of the curriculum. This will provide them with valuable skills that will be beneficial in gaining future employment both on and off the Lands.

It is the first time in the history of NG Media that we have had our own broadcast station and are able to connect remote communities such as Cosmo Newberry and Kiwirrkurra so shows from these places can be heard outside of just their own communities. With Radio NGM soon available to be streamed live over the internet on this website our radio workers will soon have a wider audience than ever before. Radio announcers from 3 communities congregated at NG Media for a 2 day training workshop to discuss the important role radio plays in sharing culture between communities and now to a wider audience also.

Running from the 6th to the 12th of May, the Blackstone Festival is an annual celebration of Lands Culture. NG Media is responsible for putting on a Friday night concert at the Festival each year.

In mid-April, 4 troopies and a busload of NG Media staff and Irrunytju art centre ladies made the long trek to Alice Springs for our website launch. It was a fantastic night of art, music and Turlku, thanks to everyone who came and to Monte's Lounge for hosting us!

Walu Young Leaders Camp / Sat, 13 April 2013 / Walu

Ngaanyatjarra Council will be holding the Walu Young Leaders Camp from the 6th to the 12th of April and have asked NG Media to be involved. This camp is a series of workshops that aim to engage Ngaanyatjarra participants in focusing on the development of sustainable training, employment and enterprises within the region. This year our film crew will be attending the camp to record the events. We'll also be setting up the stage and encouraging bands to perform at either of the Sunday or Monday evening concerts.
